To understand the problem of duplicate content on website we need to think at it not from the perspective of a website owner, but rather than the viewpoint of a search engine. Basically the duplicate content means the availability of same content on internet more than one time. There may be many demerits of duplicate content on webpage like:
-The page would not rank in the Google page
-A negative image about the page will be created in Google search engine
-Site may be penalized during the algorithm updates
