Every company tries to target its customer base with an intention to create a perception about itself in the minds of its audience that no other brand has. Brand Strategy is nothing but a marketing plan with thoughts, ideas, and ideologies. Do you think Coca-Cola was able to ‘Open Happiness’ before it started campaigning with it? Wasn’t it just a soda brand that was black and not so sweet like Pepsi? Wasn’t it just a brand that people drank during summers or served guests, and not a drink that people would share to forgive our enemies? Well, this is the power of branding strategy, it creates experiences and it brings the brand closer to its target audience. Branding strategy is about building a brand that people can resonate with and feel happy about while using it.

So how do you build a brand? Obviously, with a branding strategy! You can follow the following steps to create a branding strategy for your brand (the steps may differ for each brand depending on its target audience but it’ll be on the same line.):

1.Determine your target audience: What is your product, who will buy it, who will consume it? You should have an answer to these questions while you are figuring out who your target audience be.

2.Establish your mission statement: What you aim to do, and how have you visualized for your brand? These questions may seem small and of little value, but at the end of the day, it’ll work as a guideline if you go haywire.

3.Define your values, features, and benefits: Will people benefit from your product or service? If yes, then what will the benefits be? What is that you are offering and others aren’t? What is that your product stands out for in the market?

4.Create your visual assets: Do you have a visual guideline that the graphic & content team will follow while designing creatives and content for your brand? What are your brand colours, red, blue, or yellow?

5.Find your brand voice: Some brands associate with a cause and use that as their brand voice, some try to build on the happiness quotient, some connect on humour, some on pleasure. What is your voice, what is that you wanna talk about when you talk about your brand?

6.Put your branding to work: All these elements that you discovered about your brand, combine them and create a brand out of it. Something that you want to resonate with; and want your target audience to think of your brand when they look at any communication about your brand.
